I'm not saying that the update did this, but nothing else has changed on the machine.ĭoes not happen in SafeBoot because you cant use Sidecar in SafeBoot. Kill -9 won't allow those processes to be terminated. Rebooting with 'shutdown -h now' did not help as Safari self launched on restart. Safari is unusable.ĥ01 314 1 0 9:17am ? 0:07.82 /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari -psn_0_57358ĥ01 386 1 0 9:17am ? 0:00.11 /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/amework/Versions/A/XPCServices/.xpc/Contents/MacOS/ĥ01 463 1 0 9:17am ? 0:00.40 /System/Library/CoreServices/SafariSupport.bundle/Contents/MacOS/SafariBookmarksSyncAgentĥ01 468 1 0 9:17am ? 0:00.69 /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/amework/.Serviceĥ01 645 1 0 9:17am ? 0:00.07 /System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/A/XPCServices/.xpc/Contents/MacOS/ New windows can be opened, but behave the same way. The window can be moved, but not resized. ![]() Right clicking on the Safari icon on the Dock brought up the context menu, but the Quit option did not close Safari and was not then subsequently available (not even from the Safari File menu). The Close/Minimize/Maximize buttons were unresponsive (nothing on the Safari realestate was responsive). I could close tabs through the File menu, except for the last, but could not choose any particular tab nor navigate through any links. Safari self launches and is then unresponsive in Mojave 10.14.5 (18F132) After updating to 10.14.5 (18F132) on my relatively new iMac, Safari self launched after reboot with a number of open tabs from a previous session and was unable to be closed or quit. I have installed these apps from the Web: MySQL, Transmission, TextMate, and Brackets. I have installed these apps from the App store: FileZilla Pro, Boxy SVG, and Numbers. When setting up I have written down every single setting changes into a text file called "settings_changed.txt" which I will attach to this case too. I have recently done a complete reinstall of my MacOS 10.15.3 (and formatted the system drive) on the 5th Feb 2020. When pressing CMD+T to show your tabs bar, you'll notice the page contents move down slightly (of about the same height as the tabs bar) however neither the address bar or the tabs bar will be visiable in the window. When opening a new safari window and quickly pressing the full-screen button, the browser window will maximise into a new full-screen workspace as expected however the address bar will disapear from the browser window. ![]() Recreating this issue on your own system may require running some application that smashes your CPU, similar to how kernel_task is smashing mine and choking other processes. Please note that I am experiencin another bug (high cpu utilisation by kernel_task when Sidecar is connected) that is likely contributing to the slow performance that can exacerbate the occurance of issues related to race conditions. In my experience the issue has started since the MacOS Catalina update, I have not encountered this issue in previous version of MacOS but that doesn't mean the issue hasn't existed then too.
